Victim Of 'Theft' On The Chase Responds To Teammates' Appalling Behaviour

A shocking new twist in the tale.

The Chase contestant who was last night branded a victim of 'theft', after his three fellow contestants all accepted low or minus offers, has responded to the criticisms made of his teammates.

Yesterday it was suggested that the show would be remembered for having the tightest contestants in its history following Darragh Ennis banking an impressive £9,000.

Georgia, Carole, and Michael, who were taking part in the ITV quiz show along with Darragh, were branded 'thieves' on social media because Michael decided to go for the low offer of £300, Carole chose -£1,000 and then Georgia opted for -£2000, to audiable gasps around the studio.

But now Darragh has offered his response to a night that will surely go down as a dark mark in quiz show history.

Speaking in a post on LADbible's social media pages, he said: "Can people ease off my teammates. It's a lot harder on camera than sitting on the couch at home.

"They're good people who crumbled under a lot of pressure."

It was only the fourth time in The Chase history that three players have gone low and got through to the final.

They ended up winning £6,300 (£1,575 each) after going in to the final chase with a full house of team members.

Darragh also revealed exactly what he had done with the money, saying: "My wife had it spent on a new door pretty much before I got home!"

Rock'n'roll or what?

The Viewers' Response

One man even became an overnight sensation after his step-daughter shared a hilarious video of his reaction to The Chase.

And this was the reaction on Twitter...

All of which shows their win was nothing compared to what these heroes achieved just the other week.

Heroes Take Home Jackpot On The Chase

Let's just take a moment now and consider what they have achieved, because I think - to be frank with you - they deserve it.

In one corner there was Bonny, Emma, Anton - no doubt no rookies to the world of quizzing. I imagine, for instance, they do a regular pub quiz at their local, but certainly not professionals.

They were not, in terms of quizzing expertise, equal on paper to the man in the opposite corner. Shaun Wallace, or as he is often referred: The Dark Destroyer.

They had only got 17 answers right, it didn't look winnable, yet a staggering £75,000 was for grabs.

So let's see what happened...

With the help of some pushbacks, they left Shaun unable to catch them in the high pressure final round.

They each left the studio £25,000 richer.

It's not often a total like that is won on the show, so fair play to them for achieving it.
