Has Piers Morgan Just Broken The Law On Live TV?

Has Piers Morgan Just Broken The Law On Live TV?

'You're going to jail, Piers.'

Piers Morgan loves to cause a bit of controversy, doesn't he? If he's not telling America what to do about its gun laws, he's feuding with Jeremey Clarkson or kicking off on Alan Sugar.

This time though, he's broken the law, apparently. The Good Morning Britain host was trying to destroy one of the new plastic fivers, which were released today, because...God knows, who knows why that man does anything?

Anyway, to prove they're not as indestructible as the Bank of England claim he put it through a wash and it came out looking fine, so he tried to tear it apart with his hands and couldn't, he eventually resorted to biting it and that did work. As soon as he was on to this method he did it again, tearing two fivers.

Naturally in any situation where Piers Morgan can be slagged off, Twitter got involved.

I had a look online and the Bank of England website states: "Under the Currency & Banknotes Act 1928 it is illegal to deface our banknotes (by printing, writing or impressing upon them words, letters or figures, etc.), although the question of whether or not to prosecute in individual cases is up to the police and the courts."

So it looks like Piers is in the clear.
