Woman gets hit by a drunk driver on the way home from AA meeting

Thankfully she wasn't injured!

A woman has been hit by a drunk driver while on her way home from Alcoholics Anonymous meeting.

For someone who is clearly trying to remove alcohol from their life, it's truly rotten luck if truth be told.

Thankfully, the woman wasn't injured.

People on Reddit became aware of the incident when user 'namelessalexa' posted about it.

The caption read: "Got hit by a drunk driver on the way home from an AA meeting."

The post itself also featured a photograph of the crash – and by the looks of things, she's lucky she wasn't hurt.

In the picture, Alexa's car looks badly smashed up at the front.

But if you glance over into the background, you can see the carnage that has unfolded at the intersection.

A pick-up truck has it bumper completely missing while debris is scattered all over the road while police attend the scene.

Alexa's Reddit thread has already garnered plenty of attention, especially given the unfortunate circumstances of her being a recovering alcoholic herself.

People in the comments section were quick to show her love and wish her well.

One person said: "Glad you're safe!!!"

As another added: "Went from AA to AAA eh? Glad you are good mate."

While one user claimed: "I am convinced that the universe exists solely to generate ironic tortures for its inhabitants."

A fourth chimed in, commenting: "This will make for an excellent story if you ever choose to share it at a future AA meeting. I mean, you quit drinking, and by way of someone else's addiction it still manages to nearly take you out. It's a little Final Destination-y, and the reality that drinking too much can have tragic consequences not just for ourselves but for everyone in our orbit becomes pretty clear."

When one user said 'glad it wasn’t you that was drunk', the woman replied: "Me too!! Grateful to be sober to handle times like these like a normal person lol."

The post has already racked up a ton of likes – 13,000, to be exact.

We're just thankful that everyone was unharmed.
