A 20-year-old student attempted to do a runner after racking up a £2,146.50 ($2,700) bill at The Savoy.
Yahya Egeh knocked back a bottle of 2004 Chateau Mouton Rothschild, which costs an eye-watering £1,750 ($2,200) a bottle.

Now, I know what you're thinking: not many students could afford to splash the cash on such a pricey bottle of booze, and Egeh was no exception, because he couldn't either, and that's how he ended up hauled in front of a panel of magistrates.
Westminster Magistrates' Court heard that Egeh had originally arranged to meet up with a friend to celebrate his 20th birthday, with just £20, which was given to him by his mum, to spend, and planned to get a burger but when the friend didn't turn up he 'panicked' and ended up ordering expensive wine and food.
Architecture student Egeh, from Willesden Green, North-West London, says he was 'persuaded' to go to the swanky restaurant by a friend called Tallulah in honour of his birthday.

The Sun reported that Egeh's lawyer, Shaher Bukhari, said: "Tallulah never arrived and he started to panic."
This panic apparently prompted Egeh to order the fancy wine - which has 'fruity notes of black cherry, candid quince and liquorice' and a label designed by the Prince of Wales, if you're interested - and some food to go with it, of course.
But when the time come to pay the bill, Egeh decided to try and slip out without paying.

However, he was apprehended by security staff who detained him until and the cops arrived.
Bukhari added: "He apologised for what he did."
Egeh admitted to leaving without paying, and the court heard he had no previous convictions.
He is due to be sentenced on Friday, following the completion of a probation report.

As you can probably gather by the price, Chateau Mouton Rothschild is considered to be one of the best wines in the world and has premier grand cru status, an accolade given to the most prestigious wines from the Bordeaux region. So a bit fancier than the usual Strongbow Dark Fruit that most students are downing, then.
