Two-bedroom house goes on market for £15,000 but it’s for brave buyers only

A two-bedroom house has gone on the market for just £15,000 but it’s really only for buyers feeling a little brave.

Unsurprisingly for that jaw-droppingly low price, the place isn’t in somewhere like London or even Manchester, it is instead found on Chapel Street, Bishop Auckland, County Durham.

According to rightmove, properties in the North East county had an overall average price of £165,474 over the last year.

So, that £15k price seems like a dramatic drop – and there’s many reasons why.

Sure, it’s become quite the trend to move into a fixer-upper, there’s enough ‘reno’ accounts on Instagram to prove that.

But this place literally has a gaping hole in the ceiling.

Shocking photos of the County Durham property show the wild insides of the home, which doesn’t look too abnormal from the outside.

A terrace home, it’s a brown-fronted brick abode with two windows and a black-painted door.

And inside, there’s exposed wires and beams on full display over the once cosy living room.

A sad sofa is dumped in there, with a couple empty cans of Redbull next to it – not exactly somewhere you’d want to chill out and watch the telly.

While in the kitchen, the ceiling is practically non-existent with chunks of it seeming to be falling out.

A sad, single lightbulb hangs above as rubble covers work tops and the floor.

And the bathroom is an absolute mess, too - it's certainly not fit for anyone to be washing themselves in.

Rubble, dirt and general rubbish covers the floor of the shower, spilling out into the rest of the room.

Looks like an absolute nightmare if you were to stroll into there barefooted.

It’s said this mid-terraced property ‘could be the perfect opportunity for investors to turn it into a family home’.

Just four miles from Bishop Auckland station, it means prospective buyers could get to the capital within four hours and it’s only a few yards away from the nearest school.

But even if someone did want to turn it into a place for a family to live, they’d certainly have to put in quite the graft, there’s no denying that.

And if they are interested, the £15k County Durham home goes up for auction on 22 May through McHugh & Co, London.
