Airport officials have since confirmed the exciting news, with the Harry Reid International Airport taking to Facebook to congratulate the flyer.

The post reads: "CONFIRMED! One lucky player cashed in BIG at LAS - winning $1.3 million (around £1 million) playing Wheel of Fortune Triple Double Emeralds in the Terminal 1 Esplanade.

"That’s one way to end a vacation - as a MILLIONAIRE!"

The scene was also captured on footage and shared last Tuesday (27 June) on Twitter by a user named Derek Nicoletto.

"Someone just won the 1.3 million jackpot on the slot machine at the airport!" Nicoletto captioned the short clip.

The airport also retweeted the post with the same caption shared on their Facebook post.

People all over have since shared their reactions to the remarkable win across social media.

One wrote: "Imagine it’s last call for your flight and this happens! You need to call an attendant which could take a while!"

"Totally worth it if you miss the flight! Congratulations to the lucky winner!" penned a second.

A third praised: "Congratulations! So happy for you!"

The gambler won $1.3 million (around £1 million) on the Wheel of Fortune slot machine.

"But did they get on the plane?!?! I would have definitely extended my stay after that win," admitted a fourth.

A fifth advised: "You might as well stick around for an extra day or two and celebrate!"

Well, with those earnings, the lucky traveller could take an extra holiday or two to really push the boat out.

A final social media user called the whole ordeal 'absolutely insane'.

Harry Reid International Airport currently boasts more than a stonking 1,400 slot machines for Sin City visitors trying one last shot at winning the big bucks.

The slot machines have since generated more than $1 billion in revenue over the last 36 years, according to The Las Vegas Review-Journal and FOX affiliate KVVU-TV.

Scott Kichline, assistant director for business at Harry Reid International Airport, once said: "Having slots in the airport is an amenity travellers largely enjoy and have come to expect."

He continued: "Seeing and hearing slots the moment they arrive sets the tone for an 'Only Vegas' experience, and on their way out, many also enjoy the opportunity to pursue one last jackpot."

Well, with the prospect of leaving your holibobs a millionaire - it's no wonder why so many hopeful tourists have tried their luck on one of the airport's many slots.
