The latest in a long line of ludicrous news that seems to confirm we're living in some sort of computer simulation - there's now a petition to have the street in front of Trump Tower named after the former US President, Barack Obama.

The MoveOn petition launched by Elizabeth Rowin calls for the stretch of Fifth Avenue in New York to be renamed 'President Barack H. Obama Avenue' and would require the current POTUS to formally change the address of his golden city skyscraper.

Per the description: "We request the stretch of Fifth Avenue between 56th and 57th Streets be renamed 'President Barack H. Obama Avenue'. Any addresses on that stretch of Fifth Avenue should be changed accordingly.

"The City of Los Angeles recently honored former President Barack Obama by renaming a stretch of the 134 Freeway near Downtown LA in his honor.

"We request the New York City Mayor and City Council do the same by renaming a block of Fifth Avenue after the former president who saved our nation from the Great Recession, achieved too many other accomplishments to list, and whose two terms in office were completely scandal free."

That would certainly be a slap in the face of the president, whose tower has stood as a symbol of the Trump administration ever since his rise to power, and will continue to do so as the setting of his 2020 reelection campaign if he chooses to continue.

The skyscraper is the headquarters of the Trump Organisation, and until Trump moved into the White House in Washington, D.C. he and his family had lived in the penthouse of the tower.

As reported by Indy100, ever since he won the election in 2016 the building has been under heavy security due to continued protests both for and against Trump. No doubt this recent petition will add more fuel to the fire.

Whether it will succeed is yet to be seen, but it's looking good as it stands, having reached nearly 17,000 signatures of the 20,000 goal.

Speaking about the petition, Joan Addison - who signed for the move - said: "It's a pleasure to be involved in the petition to honour our deserving former president who in the face of adversity accomplished to serve the office with complete dignity and respect."
