Three Mobile customers ask government if they'll be left to die after not receiving emergency alert

After not hearing the emergency alarm on Sunday, some Three customers have asked the government if they'll be left to die.

Yesterday (23 April) really was a landmark day for the UK, as an emergency alert sounded on all UK phones for the very first time.

The alert, which sounded for millions of Brits at 3pm on Sunday (23 April), is a wider security system as part of the UK Government Resilience Framework which is designed to warn the public if there is a 'danger to life' nearby.

This could be anything from flooding, wildfires, or even terror attacks - though it is not just limited to those disastrous events.

The message received by thousands on Sunday read: "This is a test of Emergency Alerts, a new UK government service that will warn you if there's a life-threatening emergency nearby.

"In a real emergency, follow the instructions in the alert to keep yourself and others safe. Visit gov.uk/alerts for more information.

"This is a test. You do not need to take any action."

As the clock hit 3pm, many jumped out of their seats following a distinct loud sound and vibration on their phones that lasted for 10 seconds.

However, those who certainly didn't jump out of their seats were Three mobile customers, with a lot of them reporting that the alarm did not sound for them.

Not exactly what you want if the emergency is real is it?

Many Three customers took to social media shortly after the alarm was supposed to sound.

"Three phones no alarm received. Quite alarming really," one person wrote.

Meanwhile, a second wrote: "I think there is a problem with three network.. because I got no alarm."

And a third added: "Seems like @ThreeUK was the only network to fail to send out the alert.... Best hope Three customers know someone on a different network who can let them know if there's an emergency!"

Three later released a statement saying they were aware that some of their customers had not received the alarm.

A spokesperson for the phone network told LADbible: “We are aware that a number of customers have not received the test alert.

"We are working closely with the government to understand why and ensure it doesn't happen when the system is in use.”

Now, some Three customers are asking the government if they'll be left to die if the alert was to sound again in the event of an actual emergency.

"@ThreeUK didn’t get an emergency alert. I was on Wi-Fi and mobile and have it turned on?" one Three customer wrote on Twitter.
