Yesterday, a picture of a scene at Westminster went viral after a social media user posted it on Twitter, making assumptions about its context.

The user, who goes by the profile name of Texas Lone Star, showed an image of a woman wearing a hijab walking past a casualty who was suffering in the aftermath of the terror attack on Wednesday.

It was posted with the caption: "Muslim woman pays no mind to the terror attack, casually walks by a dying man while checking phone."

The user, whose bio reads, 'Proud TEXAN and AMERICAN patriot #2a#prolife #Trump2016#TrumpPence16 Fuck Islam and PC. Don't mess with Texas!' (make of that what you will), has posted a number of anti-Islam tweets.

Now, however, the photographer who took the picture, Jamie Lorriman, has explained the real context of the snap.

"The people who took on that picture are being rather selective," Lorriman told ABC. "In the other picture in the sequence she looks truly distraught. Personally, I think she looks distressed in both pictures.

"It's wrong it's been misappropriated in that way."

In the image, seven people are stood around the woman on the ground, with one on her phone presumably contacting her family or the emergency services. In the foreground, the woman wearing the hijab walks by with a scared and distressed look on her face.

While she is on her phone, she could be letting people know she's okay.

"She probably just wanted to get off the bridge. I feel so sorry for the woman in the picture. If she's seen this, she must feel awful," Lorriman continued.

Let's be glad that's been cleared up.
