Footage of a murder suspect reaching for a police officers gun, in an attempt to kill himself, has emerged on LiveLeak.

The Daily Mail reported that the man in question was 23-year-old Thomas Robinson, who was waiting to be questioned when he tried to take the policeman's fire arm.

Robinson was waiting in an interview room, after being accused of shooting 17-year-old Joseph Reno Armstrong Jr. on June 17.

Officer James Ball enters the room where the questioning is taking place, and proceeds to remove Robinson's handcuffs.

As Ball is bent over, releasing Robinson's left arm from the cuffs, Robinson reaches over, trying to take the gun from Ball's holster.

During the struggle, Robinson appears to shout 'kill me!' repeatedly, before he is eventually restrained by two officers who rush into the room, using their tasers.

Robinson has reportedly now been charged with murder and assaulting a police officer.
