Gold medal-winning swimmer Ryan Lochte has reportedly been 'held up at gun point' at a party in Rio.

Lochte, who is part of Team USA is thought to now be okay and unharmed, and is now back at his team's base, reports the Independent.

The 32-year-old allegedly attended the party with three other teammates, after being invited by Brazilian swimmer Thiago Pereira.

The swimmer rang his mother Ileana after the incident occurred, which she described as 'terrifying'.

Lochte won gold on Wednesday in the men's 4x200 freestyle relay, which makes him the second most decorated male Olympic swimmer ever, behind teammate Michael Phelps.
