A Swedish local official has proposed a new way of improving professional and personal relations by giving employees a paid hour break each to have sex.

The idea also intends to up the local birthrate.

Sweden is already known for being famously considerate of its citizens, with universal health care, a welfare state and 480 days of paid parental leave.

42-year-old council member, Per-Erik Muskos, from the northern town of Overtornea, now wants to allow its 550 employees the privilege of paid sex in the hopes that it will increase the population, compliment stale marriages and just generally improve self-esteem.

The proposal has spread across Sweden during a week when President Trump has mistakenly confused the country as dysfunctional.

The suggestion is expected to be voted on in springtime by the 31-member council, which is currently divided on the issue.

"We should encourage procreation," Muskos said. "I believe that sex is often in short supply. Everyday life stressful and the children are at home. This could be an opportunity for couples to have their own time, only for each other."

Critics of the motion have argued that employees could waste away their working hours by trying to hook up on Tinder for their weekly escapade.

If it does pass, the municipality's 550 employees will get an hour paid sex on top of an hour of paid fitness or wellbeing activities.

"People have so many other things to do," Muskos added. "When you are at home you have social media, you have to take your children to football and ice hockey, you don't have time to take care of each other and have time together without children."
