Jada Pinkett Smith claims Will Smith chatted her up when he was with his ex-wife

Jada Pinkett Smith claims Will Smith chatted her up when he was with his ex-wife

The marriage between Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith has long been the subject of much speculation.

Jada Pinkett Smith claims Will Smith chatted her up when he was with his ex-wife.

Earlier this week, the 52-year-old shocked the world with a bombshell interview, claiming she and husband Smith had been separated for six years, up until the incident which saw The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air actor slap comedian Chris Rock at the Oscars last year.

Pinkett Smith admitted she thought 'this is a skit' when her husband stormed the stage.

The talk show host - who was seated next to Smith in the front row - told People: “I was like, ‘there’s no way that Will hit him'.

“It wasn’t until Will started to walk back to his chair that I even realised it wasn’t a skit.”

Well, it seems the marriage between Smith and Pinkett Smith has long been the subject of much speculation, as Pinkett Smith admitted: “We’re still figuring it out."

“We’ve been doing some really heavy-duty work together.

“We just got deep love for each other and we are going to figure out what that looks like for us.”

Now, despite marital issues, it's being claimed that the Men In Black star chatted up Pinkett Smith when he was still married to Sheree Zampino back in 1994.

"He called me when I was in Baltimore with my mom," Pinkett Smith told NBC.

"She was like, 'Listen, tell him - y'all hang up that phone. You don't need to be talking to no married man.'

"And I was like, 'She's right.' And so I was like, 'Will, I'm so sorry, but my mom says please don't call me anymore.'

"And so we didn't talk again for a whole other year."

Smith got back in touch with her after his split from Zampino.

She said: "He called me and he was like, 'Where are you?' And I was like, 'I'm in Baltimore'.

"He was like, 'Are you coming back to LA?' And I was like, 'Yeah.' He was like, 'Are you seeing anybody?' And I was like, 'No.' And he said, 'Good, because you seeing me now'. And I was like, 'What?!'

"Just straight up, you know. I kind of liked that."

The couple then tied the knot in 1997

NBC host Hoda Kotb later asked Pinkett Smith if the pair would ever consider a divorce.

Hoda said: "Why not just amicably divorce? Why not just do that."

She replied: "We don't want to. We love our family, and we love each other. You know, it's more of a life partnership. Now, 10 years from now, who knows?

"Well, you know, right now what we're focused on, which has been so beautiful, is deep healing - because of everything that's transpired. Now, what happens after that, I don't know yet."
