Jeremy Clarkson explains why he still eats pork despite the tragic death of his piglets

Jeremy Clarkson said it was the first time he'd seen Lisa cry.

Jeremy Clarkson has revealed why he still eats pork despite the sad death of his piglets in season three of Clarkson's Farm.

In what's been arguably the most emotional season of Clarkson's Farm to date, Diddly Squat has faced its fair share of challenges in a bid to be a more profitable farm.

Although the first four episodes were full of laughs, one scene in particular left viewers in tears.

Throughout season three, the former Top Gear presenter attempts to increase the farm's income by making unfarmed land farmable.

However, it's safe to say that his new pig breeding strategy didn't quite go to plan.

It ended in heartbreak when two of the farm's pigs gave birth to little piglets, only for around a dozen of them to start dying over a couple of days.

Despite attempts to save one of the surviving piglets by taking it into the family home, it also died shortly after.

Clarkson said that it's the first time he'd ever seen his girlfriend Lisa Hogan cry.

And viewers were also devastated, as one person tweeted: "I’m debating whether I have the mental fortitude to watch another episode of Clarkson’s Farm after the harrowing piglet one."

Another added: "I defy anyone to watch that piglet episode of Clarkson’s Farm without crying that was brutal."

"Clarkson’s Farm piglet episodes need a public health warning on them, both my wife and myself were in tears," a third commented.

Now, after the incident you'd think that Clarkson would be less reluctant to eat a bacon sarnie the next day.

Nope.

He explained: “The pigs, you have to sell them. Otherwise, nobody would keep pigs if you didn't eat them.

“Well, they get massive and there would be no cows or pigs in the country if people didn't eat them.

“So, I've always said that about giant pandas, if you want to save the pandas start eating it, then farmers will quickly go 'I know how we can get this lot breeding'.

“But yeah, so we, you know, in order to have the animals, you have to eat them at the correct time.

“And it is weird because you love them and you give birth to them, you nurture them and you feed them, you take care of them, you get the vet round when they're poorly, and then you kill them and eat them.

“And it is a strange place to be when you haven't been a farmer all your life.

“But we are getting better at it. We definitely are.”
