Netflix viewers have been left pretty confused after one of the streaming platform's shows has been cancelled four years after it aired.
Netflix often switch up their content, with films and series' regularly added and removed, new shows launched and older less popular stuff cancelled.
Fans are pretty used to it, but they were rather baffled when it was revealed that a Sarah Paulson series had been axed years after it first dropped.
Earlier this week, Deadline revealed that Ratched had been officially cancelled, despite original plans for two seasons.

The series, which dropped on Netflix in 2020, was based on the 1962 novel One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, and focused on Nurse Ratched (played by Paulson).
The prequel series - created by American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy - is set in 1947 and tells the story of Mildred Ratched before she became the cold-hearted mental health nurse portrayed in the novel.
The psychological drama sees Mildred arrive in northern California in 1947, looking for employment at a leading psychiatric hospital where new and unsettling experiments have begun on the human mind.
Although Nurse Ratched portrays herself as everything a professional and dedicated nurse should be, she begins to infiltrate the mental health care system and those within it.

At the time, the show was ordered for two seasons but it seems that's no longer the case.
The first season was pretty successful, bagging four Emmy nominations during its time and being a huge hit with fans - which is why the news of it being cancelled came as quite the shock to fans.
Paulson confirmed the sad news herself in a recent fan clip uploaded onto X (formerly Twitter).
In the video, the fan asks: "Are we getting Ratched season two?" to which Paulson responds: "No".

Following the news, many said they figured the show had been axed, but were gutted that it hadn't been officially announced.
One wrote: "It came out FOUR YEARS AGO. I had assumed it was already canceled. You cannot have these long stretches between seasons and still expect audiences to care."
While another said: "Yes! After a year of silence I knew it wasn’t coming back. Netflix/Ryan should’ve said something, it shouldn’t be Sarah’s responsibility to confirm if it’s cancelled or not."
A third added: "Didn't this show come out like years ago…? Why would it get a season 2 now..?"

And a fourth joked: "It's been ten years move on."
