If you have yet to watch Millie Bobby Brown’s newest movie on Netflix, then you’re missing out.
While many of us are familiar with her memorable performances as Eleven in Stranger Things or Enola Holmes, this time she's entering the fantasy genre - but with a twist.
The film, which dropped on the platform on Friday (8 March), sees Brown play a princess named Elodie, who’s Prince Charming sacrifices her to the pit of a vengeful dragon - leaving to fend for herself.

But there's a particular reason why the film is flipping the traditional fairytale narrative on it's head as Damsel's writer, Dan Mazeau explained to TheWrap: “Elodie wants to travel the world, the dragon has been effectively locked in this emotional prison for hundreds and hundreds of years.
"It ends with, as opposed to the confines of the cave, as open as it could possibly be.

“It’s about taking these traditional knight-in-shining-armor stories and exploring them from a different perspective, and part of that is not just saving yourself but also becoming the savior for somebody else.
"We wanted Elodie to go through the entire arc of a hero, starting from somebody scared to becoming somebody strong.”
Brown’s portrayal of the scorned Princess has been a big hit with fans - but the ending has left many wondering the same thing.

After Elodie marries Prince Henry to save her people from poverty, she soon discovers that the family she has married into has a keen interest in sacrificing young women to a dragon to repay her for slaughtering her three babies.

When Elodie is thrown into a pit, she manages to escape after a bit of cat-and-mouse but then her sister Floria is set to replace her as the sacrificial lamb, so she goes back to rescue her.
Elodie then makes a deal with the dragon after convincing her that they had both been victims of their greed.
That’s when she leaves the cave with the dragon to right some wrongs.
During the showdown, Elodie interrupts Henry's wedding to a new victim and the Queen scoffs at her, asking if she thinks they should be scared of little old her.

That’s when the princess drops her kickass quote: "It's not me you should fear."
At that moment, the dragon appears and lands on top of the building as it gears up to unleash pure fire.
In the end, Elodie leaves the Kingdom with the dragon and her sister to travel the world.
It’s a really nice open ending which leaves viewers wondering what’s in store for the pair.

And social media users who are raving about the scene are now comparing it to the less than desirable Game of Thrones season eight ending - particularly where Daenerys Targaryen is concerned.
One person wrote: “Damsel was the Targaryen happy ending I wanted to see in #gameofthrones.”
Another said: “Elodie got the ending Daenerys Targaryen deserved and I thank the writers of this movie for that #Damsel.”
A third said: "damsel ending is how game of thrones supposed to end."
Someone else commented: “Unrelated but the ending of Damsel was giving GOT.”
If only this was the ending, we saw in GOT.
