Tom Hardy fans baffled as he shows off ‘incredibly strange’ accent that no one can place

The actor stars in the upcoming movie The Bikeriders

He might be one of this generation’s most talented actors, but fans have been baffled by Tom Hardy’s accent in his latest film.

The 45-year-old is set to star in The Bikeriders alongside Austin Butler and Jodie Comer, with the film centring around a 1960s motorcycle club.

After the trailer for the upcoming flick dropped, fans have been struggling to place the Hardy’s accent.

His Godfather-like mumbling is pretty strange, especially given that Hardy has previously shown off multiple accents in The Dark Knight, Peaky Blinders, and Taboo.

However, many have been left confused by his accent in The Bikeriders, despite the movie supposedly being set in the Midwest.

According to the film's synopsis, the Inception star will play Johnny who is the leader of the Vandals motorbike club.

However, things rapidly begin to spin out of control for the group as they become involved in increasingly dangerous activities - which could threaten the lives of the original members.

With Oscar-nominated Butler as Benny and Emmy-winning actor Comer also starring, the film should be a huge critical success.

Having watched the teaser fans have been arguing over the strange dialect, with one X calling it a ‘cockney Russian American’.

Another added: “Ahhhhhhhh the incredibly soothing sensation of Tom Hardy doing another new voice and accent that has never existed before.”

While a third joked: "...dissecting tom hardy's accent work in this trailer like it's my job."

However, this doesn’t seem to have put the brakes on the hype around the film.

Austin Butler also stars in the movie.

“Tom Hardy using another absurd accent, The Bikeriders is going to be so good,” gushed one excited fan.

Another tweeted: “Idk what Tom Hardy’s doing with his accent here but that just means it’s gonna be a good movie.”

One user wrote: "This movie has everything. Tom Hardy speaking in a pizza shop owner accent."

Meanwhile, other users spoke about the other cast members' supposed Midwestern accents.

One said: “Jodie Comer speaking in a small cartoon mouse voice."

With The Bikeriders set to speed into cinemas at the end of December, you’ll have to decide for yourself what you think.
