Ryan Reynolds responds to eagle-eyed Wrexham fans spotting player in Deadpool 3 trailer

Ryan Reynolds responds to eagle-eyed Wrexham fans spotting player in Deadpool 3 trailer

Wrexham fans have lost it after spotting one of their players in a trailer for Deadpool and Wolverine

The newest trailer for Deadpool and Wolverine has created an absolute mountain of discussion.

Whether it be the glorious amount of swearing in a Marvel film, Hugh Jackman’s weird CGI face, or just fans being hyped to see Reynolds back in the red spandex – there’s a lot to talk about.

One area of the internet understandably excited is fans of Wrexham AFC, with their glorious leader and owner Ryan Reynolds in the hot seat.

They’re a bit more excited than you’d expect from that alone though - because eagle-eyed Wrexham fans reckon they’ve spotted the biggest cameo of them all.

Watch the trailer (for the 100th time I’m sure) and see if you can spot them:

I wasn’t able to spot him my first few watches – so if you did you’re definitely more on it than I am.

The spot was made by fans online who realised that in the background of a bar scene, a noticeably large bearded man seemed to resembled a certain Wrexham striker…

It began with one fan on X posting: “One Ollie Palmer in the new Deadpool trailer!”

An AFC Wrexham podcast called ‘Fearless in Devotion’ also posted the shot of Palmer in the trailer, including an exchange on Instagram between Palmer and the Deadpool star - in which the football player comments: "If you squint..."

Reynolds himself responded to the tweet, saying: “Keen eyesight.”

Another skeptic responded to the original tweet questioning whether it was really Palmer, with 'Fearless in Devotion' claiming: “I've asked him. He's confirmed it is him.”

And fans were understandably shocked.

One posted to say: “How awesome! The Easter egg hunt is going to be endless.”

Another said: “Hahahaha goddamn, it really is!! WOOOHO!!”

While a third fan noted that Palmer’s initial drop down to the National League to play for Wrexham has seemingly paid off – saying: “There’s a recruiting tool that no one else in the EFL has. Genius.”

Wrexham have had quite the fairy-tale journey since being bought out by Reynolds and fellow actor Rob McElhenney back in 2020 - with the club just last week securing promotion to League One.

Whilst most of the wildest stories have involved Hollywood being brought to Wrexham, this is the first time - outside of the brilliant Disney+ documentary Welcome to Wrexham - that the small Welsh city has gone the other way.

Every club in the world may be vying for Kylian Mbappe’s signature this summer, but if the megastar wants to transition to Marvel movies like Palmer has – then maybe we’ll be seeing the Frenchman in League One next season.
