The first trailer for the action-comedy Shaft has dropped and we cannot wait.
We saw Samuel L. Jackson take on legendary John Shaft II back in 2000 and now, in this reboot/sequel, we are reintroduced to his character alongside John Shaft III (Jessie T. Usher).

John Shaft Jr. is a cyber security expert with a degree from MIT, who enlists his father's help to uncover the truth behind his best friend's untimely death.
According to the story-line on IMDb, Shaft was absent throughout his son's youth but his agrees to help his progeny navigate Harlem's heroin-infested underbelly.
The synopsis continues: "And while JJ's (John Shaft Jr.) own FBI analyst's badge may clash with his dad's trademark leather coat, there's no denying family. Besides, Shaft's got an agenda of his own, and a score to settle that's professional and personal."
The trailer also reveals a little added bonus, yep, you guessed it - they're reintroducing John Shaft (Richard Roundtree) - we've never seen so much Shaft before now...

According to Screen Rant, the film will be available for world-wide streaming on Netflix.
The Shaft films began with Roundtree in 1971 so, more than 40 years later, there have probably been many changes.
This 2019 reboot will be directed by Tim Story who also directed Fantastic Four, Think Like A Man and Ride Along. He has also been confirmed for Ride Alone 3.
Fans clearly can't wait for a bit more of Samuel L. Jackson on their screens. One guy took to Twitter saying: "WHAT'S HIS NAME SAY IT. shaft DAM RIGHT SAM JACKSON IS SHAFT."

Another added: "Damn this is like Shaft in a Marvel movie and I don't mind." Neither do we, neither do we.
And a third commented a little less enthusiastically: "I hope it's better than the last one but I'm not giving up hope. It's great that they kept Richard Roundtree in all of them though."
Shaft is set for release on June 14.
