Following last night's explosive season finale of Peaky Blinders, the BBC has confirmed the release date for the fifth series - announcing it will return in 2019. Quite a bit of a wait we've got on our hands, then.
BBC Two posted to both Facebook and Twitter: "CONFIRMED: #PeakyBlinders will return to BBC Two in 2019."
The Beeb then signed off the post with an emoji wearing sunglasses looking smug.

However, fans haven't been left feeling quite so smug. In fact, they're feeling pretty bloody pissed off.

Steve Knight, the creator of the BBC drama, spoke to Express.co.uk about season five, admitting that he's already got the ideas down, at least.
"It's in my head," he said. "It's not the best place for it to be. So I'm going to start writing that very soon and we will start shooting it next year. We will start shooting in the autumn."
He also said: "It will be the normal turnaround, it would be [airing in] spring of 2019."

I mean, there were 18 months between the third and fourth seasons, so it's not like we've not had to wait before. Like Knight says, it's just another 'normal turnaround'.
But it's the age of instant streaming and binge-watching back-to-back episodes of an entire series, meaning we're used to having what we want when we want - and what we want is absolutely everything and when we want it is right now this second.
It's been a bloody good series, once again, and now that those six thrilling episodes are through we're excited for more. Just a shame we'll have to wait until the year after next for it.
