Zendaya says she 'loved' filming intimate three-way scenes in new movie

Zendaya says she 'loved' filming intimate three-way scenes in new movie

The actor has made a surprising admission about the controversial scenes.

Zendaya has revealed that she 'loved' filming the intimate three-way scenes in her latest film.

The actor even called herself 'lucky' to be paired up with her co-stars during the scenes in her upcoming film, titled Challengers.

If you haven't already, you can view the trailer here:

The 27-year-old revealed all on her long-awaited sports film, where she plays Tashi, a former tennis prodigy that becomes involved in a love triangle with fellow tennis players Art and Patrick, who are best friends.

The former later becomes her husband, and after her career is ended prematurely with an injury, she coaches him to become one of the best tennis players in the world.

After he falls into a losing streak, she enters him into a low level tournament to boost his confidence, but finds himself across from his now former best friend and burnt out Patrick, who is also Tashi's ex-boyfriend.

It's a lot to take in, but it sounds like there'll be a lot of spice involved whatever the case.

But one scene in the trailer snatched headlines, when Zendaya's Tashi seemingly has a threesome with Art and Patrick, which comes as a stark change to roles that the actress is known for playing in films like Dune and Spiderman.

To add fuel to the fire, the actress' high profile relationship with Tom Holland was mentioned by fans on social media following the trailer, with several screenshots flying around online.

Regardless of this, work is work, and Zendaya opened up about the film when speaking to The Mirror, saying: "Tashi is extremely driven. She's a go-getter and she is totally ruthless.

"The intimate scenes were so good I loved it. I felt very lucky to be partnered with those guys."

She continued: "And whatever the moment, it always felt like they always had my back and I had theirs.

"We were so lucky to have a director in Luca Guadagnino who really encouraged us all to collaborate and to bring our own ideas.

"It was a really exciting creative process."

The actress also revealed that it wasn't the easiest thing in the world to get in shape for the role, where she was meant to be a top athlete and tennis player, stating that she does not 'love to work out'.

Speaking more about learning about tennis, she revealed: "Thankfully, I had an amazing group of people who helped and I learned a lot about air tennis especially and how to look like I know what I'm doing.

"We trained for something like six weeks, which was pretty tough.

"Hopefully, we did a good job and people won't be too upset. But I'm not about to give up the day job, that's for sure!

Playing tennis was definitely the most challenging part of making Challengers, she claimed.

The California-born actress and singer also highlighted that the film is not just a sports drama, saying: "It's a complicated, sexy and interesting character piece. When I read the script, I loved it.

"And even now, every time I watch the movie, I question Tashi's decisions a little more.

"It's one of those stories about the choices we make and their consequences. It's fascinating as everyone will find themselves empathising with a different character. Everyone has their own idea of who the bad guy is," she explained.

Fans will no doubt be excited to see her in a completely new role in a different type of movie for the actress.

Challengers is coming to UK cinemas on 26 April.
