Adele admits she used to be a borderline alcoholic and misses booze 'so much'

The Brit reveals she quit drinking three months ago.

Adele has revealed that she used to be a ‘borderline alcoholic’ and misses booze a lot.

The singer was quite candid with her audience in the US over the weekend.

The Brit, who has a Las Vegas residency, told fans in the crowd that she had paused her drinking for now but ‘misses’ it all the time.

“I stopped drinking maybe like three and a half months ago. It's boring. I mean, I was literally borderline alcoholic for quite a lot of my twenties, but I miss it so much. I cut out caffeine,” she said, as per Daily Mail.

She then pointed to a concert-goer and said: “So enjoy your whiskey sour. I'm very, very jealous.”

Earlier this year, the 35-year-old admitted during another one of her Las Vegas concerts that she once drank four bottles of wine before lunch.

"I remember when I came here in Covid-19, in lockdown, it was 11 am and I was definitely like four bottles of wine in – like we all were,” she told the crowd, according to Daily Mail.

"I said in 2020 that I wanted to put my album out. And we were all at home just drunk basically."

Last year, while speaking to Vogue, Adele also admitted that her drinking during lockdown began ‘earlier and earlier’ in the day, adding she’s always a little hungover on Monday mornings.

She revealed that her first emergency shop was her favourite rose, Whispering Angel, and she began consuming alcohol daily.

“Whispering Angel turned me into a barking dog. It did not make me whisper,” Adele told the publication.

Elsewhere in the interview, the singer said her father, who died of cancer in 2021, was a heavy drinker, which sparked her ‘fascination’ with alcohol at an early age.

“I’ve always had a very close relationship with alcohol. I was always very fascinated by alcohol. It’s what kept my dad from me. So I always wanted to know what was so great about it,” she said.

However, the ‘Someone Like You’ singer added that she’s conscious of appearing drunk in public, as once you look ‘reckless’, the tabloid media feed off it.

“They descend, and descend, and descend on you, which drives you f**king mad,” she said.
