What one girl thought was a flirty joke with an ice cream man turned out to be a bit of a dramatic experience with a very jealous wife.

Jenny Wilde and her mates were innocently enjoying Brighton Pride six weeks ago when an ice cream man that they were buying from offered to accept her mobile number as payment.

Known only as 'James', the vendor offered the trade, and obviously didn't quite think the potential consequences through.

Now, we don't want to judge him, but the fact his wife was going through his phone in the first place suggests that he may or may not be a repeat offender. Of course, that's no excuse to snoop, but sometimes there's no smoke without fire - and his offer of free treats for a stranger's number kind of backs that up.

The 25-year-old took to Twitter last week to reveal the shock voice note she received.

She wrote: "A few months back an ice cream man told me he'd give me and all my pals free ice cream if he could get my number.

"We thought it was a fair trade. I took one for the team. We've had no contact since and I woke up to this today."

Jenny was at Brighton Pride with her mates.

Jenny, who is currently living in Epsom, Surrey, posted a video of her playing a voice message from James' wife.

An obviously furious woman can be heard shouting: "F*** do you think you are to be on my husband's phone?"

Originally from Saltcoats, North Ayrshire, Jenny revealed how she got James' number and also her reaction to the message from his wife.

She said: "We went to the ice cream van and ordered some ice creams, I asked how much it was and he said just your number.

'James' thought he had pulled.

"I laughed and said no seriously how much?

"Again he said just your number so me and my friends laughed and I gave him my number, he then rang me so I had his number too. Obviously I assumed he was single since he asked."

That's a fair assumption to make. But, of course, it didn't end there.

Referring to the call from James' wife, she said: "I ignored her. If she had asked me instead of being rude to me then I would have answered.

"It's their drama not mine."
