A mum has given birth in the sea, and it's not even the first time she's had a baby while swimming in the water.
Nicaraguan woman Josy Cornelius recently welcomed her fifth child, a baby boy named Maui, in the Caribbean Sea after moving to the island specifically for two months just to give birth to her baby.
She's a big supporter of 'free birth' where a baby is born without the help of medical professionals, and also believes that giving birth in different oceans can change the experience.

She even moved her family hundreds of miles away to experience a new ocean birth.
"Women should plan their pregnancy and birth the same way they plan their dream wedding: no distance too far, no budget too tight, no idea too specific," the mother of five told What's The Jam.
"This is the best prerequisite for the dream birth. I planned the last birth meticulously.

"The preparation took over 70 weeks. Our first ocean baby was just five days old when I imagined that our next baby would be born in the Caribbean sea."
Maui was born in the Caribbean Sea at around 2am local time on 11 September, 2023 with his family taking eight weeks of holiday to prepare for his arrival.
"No investment was too big to make this unforgettable moment that shaped our lives come true," the boy's mother said of welcoming her fifth child, and explained why she chose the Caribbean
According to Josy, the Caribbean 'speaks a different language' as 'the waves are gentle' and the 'colours are brighter'.

She had what she described as a 'flawless birth experience' and posted a clip to Instagram of her cradling her newborn baby while still in the sea.
Plenty have told her they thought she'd done something amazing and offered their congratulations on the newest addition to her family.
However, not everyone is a big fan as when she first gave birth in the sea in 2022, there were some critics who thought she was doing childbirth wrong.
Josy tends not to look at the criticism though, and said that her decision to give birth in the sea 'attracted extremely wonderful people into my life'.
She believes that she and 'many other freebirthers' are proving something as she claimed: "For far too long, childbirth has been viewed as a threat and treated medically as if it were a fatal illness."

She's pretty convinced that a natural birth in seawater is the safest outcome for mother and child, with her being firmly convinced that a natural birth offers the greatest safety for mother and child.
"I do understand the confusion after my first sea birth," she said of her decision.
"The world is not ready for a new way of thinking about birth. People are ignorant."
