Lad Who Completed Pokémon Go Admits He Cheated And Reveals What Happens When You Win

At least he's honest.

Here's one for you, do you beat Pokémon Go, or does Pokémon Go beat you?

I certainly feel as if the app has already beaten me, especially since I left my flat, while the oven was on, to go and catch what turned out to be a Hitmonchan with a CP level of 89. Reality kind of sunk in after that.

However, the guy who claimed to have beaten the game has now come forward to explain what happens when you can go no further and the truth behind his success.

The highest level you can currently achieve is 40, which Redditor _problemz reached. They've now revealed how they did it, and unfortunately, they cheated.

"It's over. First of all I want you to tell that I was using a bot, obviously," they said. "I don´t want to tell you how to use a bot and won´t answer anything related to that."

The Redditor goes on to say that he used the bot as more of a project, and to see how far he could get, rather than just being an outright cheat. He believes that there's not that much of a reward to reaching the maximum level because the developers didn't really expect anyone to get that far so soon.

He said that the rewards for reaching the top level weren't much better than those that come with most other milestones. Forty Ultra Balls, 40 Max Potions, 40 Max Revives, 40 Razz Berries, four Incense, four Lucky Eggs, four Incubators and four Lure Modules were all that he got.

_problemz's bot allowed him to gain around 280,000 XP an hour, whereas calculations say 54,000 XP per day would be enough to reach level 40 without cheating in a year.

Rather admirably, the Redditor didn't use any Poké Gyms so he did not ruin anyone else's game. He's also contacted Ninantic to ask them to delete his account.

They said: "I didn't fight in gyms, and I won't do it.

"I don't want to take the fun out of this game for anyone. If you do PVP (no matter which game), play legit or don't play.

"I purely went for XP/h. Nothing else. I used a total of 131 Eggs.

"I am going to write to Niantic to delete my Account. Please don't ask me for Data or to buy it."

I respect his honesty, to be honest.

It has kind of taken the mystery out of what happens once you complete the game, though. Hopefully there's some changes made for when someone legitimately completes it, so it's not so underwhelming.
