Fresh from his victory as 2018's Christmas Number 1 with 'We Built This City ...on Sausage Rolls', it looks like LadBaby is giving it another go after releasing his new song 'I Love Sausage Rolls'... yep, there's a running theme here.

The race is now on for Christmas Number 1 2019 and LadBaby is in a good position, sitting at the top of the official chart and taking an early lead ahead of stiff competition.

The YouTuber - whose real name is Mark Hoyle - is up against the likes of Ed Sheeran and Stormzy after releasing his twist on the Joan Jett classic 'I Love Rock 'n' Roll'.

As much of a joke as a song dedicated to sausage rolls may be, there is a serious spin which is that any money made from the song will go to food bank charity The Trussell Trust, in a bid to end hunger in the UK.

Proceeds from the song will go to The Trussell Trust.

Upon finding out that he had reached Number 1, LadBaby said: "Thank you. This is unbelievable, isn't it? The generosity of people at Christmas. Thank you so much for doing this and helping so many people who don't have a lot at Christmas.

"Last year, the song raised 70,000 emergency food packages for the charity. If we can raise anywhere near that again then, yeah, it's unbelievable."

According to the Official Charts website, with less than 2,000 copies separating Stormzy, Wham! and Ellie Goulding, things could shuffle around as the week progresses. It is well and truly all to play for over the coming days ahead of Friday's final whistle.

If the accolade to sausage rolls does maintain the lead, LadBaby will be the first artist to get consecutive Christmas Number 1s in over 20 years.

Spice Girls famously triumphed three years on the bounce with '2 Become 1', 'Too Much' and 'Goodbye' between 1996 and 1998.

Hot on LadBaby's heels is Stormzy, Ed Sheeran and Burna Boy's 'Own It', shortly followed by Wham! and their festive classic, 'Last Christmas'.
