Slasher film ‘shot from killer’s perspective’ causes audience member to vomit in recorded cinema reaction

A slasher film that is uniquely shot from the perspective of the killer has reportedly caused an audience member to vomit.

The reaction comes following a screening in Chicago, where audio has been released via @FilmUpdates on X (formerly known as Twitter) of the audience crying out in terror.

@FilmUpdates released the clip on X following a Chicago Critics Film Fest screening of the shocking slasher. See the reaction below:

The screams in question came following a kill from In a Violent Nature – an upcoming horror film from director Chris Nash.

The movie is shot from the perspective of a killer, brought back to life after a group of teens unwittingly take a locket – which causes him to embark on a ‘bloody rampage’ to retrieve it.

If the film’s 95 percent on Rotten Tomatoes' Tomatometer was not enough to get horror fans hyped for its release – this clip should do it.

Fans on X were hyped after hearing about a fan losing their lunch from a seemingly gruesome kill – with one saying: “Omg real horror is back!”

One fan at the screening said: “I was at this screening. If this is the kill I’m thinking of, people with a weak stomach might lose their lunch watching it.

“Probably with all the laughter I didn’t hear anyone throwing up.”

Another account said that the same thing happened at a screening they attended of the film.

They claimed: “There’s some great moments but most of the time I sat there being like ‘oh I guess this really is just a lot of walking huh’.

“That being said it has one of the greatest kills I’ve ever seen that had the whole theatre cheering and squirming.”

The trailer displays the fact that the film appears to be a much slower paced horror, with about half the trailer being the killer slowly walking through the woods. Take a look:

Despite this, reviews are incredibly high – with only two negative reviews out of 38 on Rotten Tomatoes.

Bloody Disgusting, a film site dedicated to horror, said in its review:

“Nash’s debut offers a stylized high-concept slasher whose arthouse leanings are sure to polarize. The stripped-down approach fascinates, and the commitment to practical gore is commendable.”

Meanwhile, Kelly McClure, writing for Salon.com, added: “The grossest, most elaborate kill-scenes I've ever seen in my life all fit seamlessly, where in other films a similar hodgepodge could fall flat amidst the chaos.

“This feels classic and completely new all at once.”

Even if you have a weak stomach, you’ve got to be tempted to watch the film now.

In a Violent Nature comes out 31 May and will release on streamer Shudder later this year.
