Remember when you had to send a really detailed personal statement to UCAS to get into your prospective university, which described in vivid detail your personal drive, future career aspirations and the unique influence Renaissance art and Ancient Greek poetry had had on your 18-year-old life?

Nah, me neither mate.

I went to Manchester Met so I just said 'my names James and I like writing' and they let me on the course. And here I am now - your favourite journalist!

Anyway, it turns out there's more to UCAS than stressing out sixth formers, recently they've been sending out a gift to students across the country.

Apparently they've been sending tampons and sanitary towels to lucky students who are pretty baffled by the entire thing.

A shit-ton of prospective students have taken to Twitter to let the world know about their envelopes, which UCAS tagged: "Because the best times call for the best protection."

The envelopes come with information about prospective universities, along with samples from tampon makers Always and Tampax.

Here's what the people of Twitter had to say about it...

Here's what UCAS replied when asked about it...

Well that's another mystery answered - good luck to everyone with their uni application.
