Conspiracy Theorist Botches Experiment To Prove Earth Is Flat

He looks a complete fool.

What's more stupid than somebody that thinks the earth is flat in 2017? Trick question mate, there's nothing more dumb than flat earthers.

Take a conspiracy theorist and YouTuber who recently took a spirit level onto a plane to definitely "prove" that the Earth is flat.

YouTube conspiracy theorist D. Marble took a flight from North Carolina to Seattle so that he could "monitor whether or not the pilot would dip the nose of the plane to compensate for curvature".

"I recorded a 23 minute and 45 seconds time-lapse, which by those measurements means the plane travelled a little over 203 miles," he says in his video. "According to curvature math given to explain the lobe model, this should have resulted in the compensation of 5 miles of curvature. As you'll see there was no measurable compensation for curvature."

"Understand that gravity is a still just a theory," he adds. "No more defending what we know to be true! Now we take the fight to the enemy! #FEOffensive."

However, there are a few key problems with the experiment and they have been pointed out by users on Twitter.

And the whole video got thoroughly debunked in the comment section: "Your experiment relies on the assumption that if there Earth were spherical, gravity would still act as though it were flat, pulling downward toward a plane, as opposed to pulling inward toward the center of the sphere.

"If the Earth is spherical and gravitational pull is toward the center, then in order to maintain a constant altitude you must remain aligned perpendicular to the pull of gravity. Thus the expected result is that the center bubble would remain centered in straight and level flight. So this demonstration in no way proves that the Earth is flat."
