Glaswegian mother Lauren Walker was walking through the M&S food hall in Uddingston when her baby, Alistair, became restless.

The youngster grew increasingly upset and Lauren was close to leaving the store to avoid a full-blown tantrum.

Supermarket staff member Mubarak Ahmad saw the mother's distress and came to her rescue.

Mubarak helped Lauren find some of her groceries before hopping behind the till where he held baby Alistair in one hand while scanning groceries in the other.

Even little Alistair helped out. Take a look at the pair of legends here.

The mum from Motherwell told the Daily Record: "Alistair smiled and squealed the full way through because he was having so much fun."

"Thanks to Mubarak, he really made my shopping experience much more enjoyable. It really just seemed second nature to him to help in this way."

"Alistair wasn't impressed when it was time to leave and he was handed back to me."

The video has been liked more than seven thousand times and has been shared 550 times since being posted on M&S's Facebook page at the weekend.

Pizza worker helps mum by keeping her daughter company while on shift

Mubarak isn't the only legend helping mums with their kids.

Mum Katie went into Dough in Manchester with her two-year-old daughter, Pixie.

Mark was serving them and went out of his way to entertain Pixie in a small gesture of kindness that led to him going viral.

As the restaurant became busy, Mark still made sure that he kept the two-year-old from getting bored by bringing her crayons, juice, and cutting her pizza into 'Pixie-sized' pieces.

Not only that, but he checked on her every 10 minutes, and then sat with her to eat ice cream at the next table.

Speaking to TheLADbible, Mark explained: "Katie had come to meet a couple of friends and brought Pixie along with her. Pixie decided on the Micky Mouse pizza and I then brought her across crayons and a colouring book.

"Pixie insisted she be served by me so I went back over and she asked me to cut her food up and then afterwards when her mum and friends' food arrived. I brought her ice cream and kept her entertained for a few minutes/no more than 10."

"I wouldn't say I did anything that my job didn't entail. It's all about going to extra mile for a customer and taking care of Pixie to give her mum that 10 minutes of down time."
