​Four Paralympians Run The 1500m Faster Than Men's Rio Olympics Final

Four Paralympians have run the 1500m faster than it was run in the Rio 2016 Olympic final.

Paralympian Fouad Baka of Algeria finished the 1500-metre race in 3 minutes and 49.59 seconds yesterday. The time was so fast that if Baka had run that time at the Olympic games in August, he would have beaten the winner Matthew Centrowitz Jr. for the gold medal.

Centrowitz Jr. finished his Rio Olympic final in 3 minutes and 50 seconds.

Sadly for Fouad Baka, he was racing in the Paralympics, where three runners finished ahead of him. Baka ended up placing fourth in the men's 1500m - T12/13 Final, a race for the visually impaired.

In front of him was bronze medalist Henry Kirwa of Kenya (3:49.59), silver medalist Tamiru Demisse of Ethiopia (3:48.59) and gold medalist Abdellatif Baka, Fouad's brother.

"It wasn't easy to get this gold medal," Abdellatif said after winning the race. "I've been working one or two years nonstop and it's been very, very hard for me."
