If anyone has watched the Planet Earth series you'll know that nature is a wonderful, beautiful thing.

But you'll also know that it can be fucking terrifying and there's a reason the majority of us stay far away from deadly wild animals.

Unfortunately, it appears nature has taken the life of a hunter in South Africa. Scott Van Zyl went on a hunting safari last week with a pack of dogs and a Zimbabwean tracker.

But concerns were raised when the 44-year-old didn't return home.

Rescue helicopters, divers and trackers were called in to look for the father of two along the Limpopo River, even handing out posters to local fishermen.

After an extensive search, a team found footprints leading into the river and his backpack was located nearby.

Police and animal services later found two Nile crocodiles and decided to shoot them.

Inside the crocs, they found what they believe to be human remains.

Scott could be the fifth person eaten by crocodiles in Zimbabwe in the last month. The remains of an eight-year-old boy were found by villagers when they cut open a croc in the north of the country.

Crocodiles aren't the only deadly predator which can cause a horrific death.

Take Indonesian man Akbar Salubiro who was swallowed whole by a 23-foot python.

After he went missing, a search party set out on the hunt for the man and they discovered him in the stomach of the reptile.

The snake was discovered lying in Akbar's back garden with a giant bulge in its stomach.

Akbar's wife, Munu, was away at the time and only found out when pictures and video emerged in the news, local media reported.

Village secretary Salubiro Junaidi said: "People had heard cries from the palm grove the night before Akbar was found in the snake's stomach.

"When the snake was captured, the boots Akbar was wearing were clearly visible in the stomach of the snake."

Reticulated pythons are boa constrictors that suffocate their victims before swallowing them whole.
