You Can Buy These Three Islands For Less Than The Price Of A UK Home

What are you waiting for?

Have you ever dreamed about fucking off to your own private island and not having to deal with people anymore?

Well, that dream could become a reality for just £142,473. OK, so I'm saying 'just' like that's pocket money but when you consider the fact that the average price of a house in the UK is £272,000, it does seem fairly reasonable.

In fact, if you're ever hoping to buy a property in London, you can be expected to fork out around £500,000 and even if you go to the north-east, which is one of the cheapest places to buy a home, you'll still be paying around £150,000. See? Quite cheap now, isn't it?

So, what do you get for your money? Well, you get not one, not two, but THREE little islands, with an area covering 108 acres. They are situated on the Potomac River and are perfect for anyone who loves nature, according to the current owner Peter Mertz.

It might not look like much, but I think that might be down to when the photo was taken. It's got sycamore trees, ducks, geese and herons - so probably best if you like birds.

Peter told the Washington Post that he bought the islands back in 1987, aged just 27. He said: "Night time there in the summer is very interesting. You're in the middle of a big river and the sounds of wildlife engulf you from all sides, especially the sound of rushing water.

"There's nothing quite like owning your own island. There are only a handful of privately owned islands in the entire Potomac River."

He said he's had many an enjoyable trip on the islands with friends where they would fish, camp and be 'alone with nature'. That sounds horrible to me, but I reckon you could probably get drunk on your own there, too.

If the price tag is a little steep for you but you still fancy your own island, (and who doesn't?) you can chance your arm at winning one for just £34.

This island, which looks like a legit paradise, is being raffled off by its owners via this site. It features its own hotel and dive centre and it gets even better, because the lucky winner will also become the owner of the island's Kosrae Nautilus Resort, which features a 16-room hotel.

If you're thinking that running a hotel isn't going to be conducive to your ideal life dreams of lying in a hammock and drinking cocktails out of pineapples, then don't worry because the debt-free business comes with 16-long-term employees who will do all the hard work while you sit on your arse and make an ongoing income.

Wish me luck, I'm off to apply.
