The American football fan who got himself a date with Eugenie Bouchard after making a bet with her on Twitter has spoken out about his plans for the Canadian tennis player and a 'crazy' Super Bowl night.

John Goehrke, a 20-year-old marketing student, responded to a post Bouchard made on social media when the Atlanta Falcons were leading 21-3 over the New England Patriots. In the post she said she 'knew the Falcons would win'.

Goehrke wasn't too sure, so chancing his arm he replied to her tweet with the message: "If Patriots win we go on a date?"

Needless to say Super Bowl LI history is history, and it turned out that Genie was a woman of her word, asking him, 'So... where do you live?' following the Patriots' historic comeback.

Talking about his first response to her Twitter reply, he told the Kansas City Star: "Once the game ended, that's when everything started blowing up.

"I started getting texts from my friends that knew. My Twitter started blowing up. It was the first time I had to start turning my notifications off."

And it looks like it's on.

Bouchard confirmed in an interview with TSN that she intends to go ahead with the romantic meet-up and could even invite him to her next tennis tournament, as she's keen to impress.

"It's fun and I'm going to follow through with it, because I want to honour my word," the 22-year-old said.

"I'll fly him out (to a tournament), but besides that he has to be the gentleman and, you know, organise a fun date night."

So how do you feel about that, Tom?
