President Barack Obama outlined his achievements in his farewell speech in Chicago last night.

The country's first black president was elected in 2008 on a message of hope and change - with his campaign message 'yes, we can!' resonating with millions of voters across the country.

He drew some of the biggest applause of the night when he paid tribute to his wife, Michelle - his "best friend" - and his running-mate and vice president, Joe Biden - "a brother."

And when Obama thanked his bro, Biden, the VP had the perfect response...

He said: "To Joe Biden, the scrappy kid from Scranton who became Delaware's favourite son, you were the first decision I made as a nominee, and it was the best.

"Not just because you have been a great vice president, but because in the bargain, I gained a brother. And we love you and Jill like family, and your friendship has been one of the great joys of our lives."

Smooth.
