The 2017 BRIT Awards are being held tonight at the O2 Arena in London.

Katy Perry, Chris Martin, the 1975, Little Mix, Skepta and Emeli Sandé were among the early performers. But the best was yet to come.

Ed Sheeran and Stormzy would team up to duet on 'Shape of You'.

Here was some of the reaction on social media...

But there have also been some other huge performances, including this which had audiences confused...

The 1975 Get Hacked?

Elsewhere, eagle-eyed viewers will have noticed that something very strange was going on during the 1975's performance earlier tonight.

Following being named as the Best British Group at the awards they took to the stage to perform their hit 'The Sound'.

But during the performance, phrases critical of the band began to flash up on screen, including things such as "Terrible high-pitched vocals", "Punch-your-TV obnoxious" and "Unconvincing emo lyrics".

Wowza, someone sure doesn't like the 1975!

Some people even took to social media to suggest that ITV had been 'hacked'...

However, it turns out there could be a more likely explanation.

If you watch the official video from the 1975's single, the same thing happens...

So it seems that the words on the screen behind The 1975 were put there deliberately and that they do similar at some of their gigs.

It was all just a publicity stunt.

That said, as much as the band might be aware of their perceived faults, sadly for the band, self-awareness and a sense of irony doesn't improve their tunes.
