Before we go any further in this article, it's probably worth me pointing out that the best Christmas film is The Santa Clause, starring Tim Allen, so as long as that's allowed to be aired around Christmas then - in my view at least - it is not cancelled this year.
That said, Elf is definitely up there when it comes to Christmas films, and with the newly released festive TV schedule showing that it isn't being aired on any of the television channels in the coming weeks, people have got a bit wound up.
The decision means that viewers will missing out on watching the classic spaghetti scene...

The social media response was one massive cry-face emoji.
As much as I, you and everyone else might feel moved to have a whine about it, as seems to be the fashion. I probably don't need to point out that if you can put together a 140-character response on social media, then you probably have it in you to find an online streaming service to watch it on. Or if you're still living in the dark ages you could always pop down your local shop and get it on DVD for three quid.
