What was he thinking?

A French TV star has enraged viewers by sexually assaulting a woman on live television.

Cyril Hanouna is a popular French TV presenter who is trying to break a national record by being live on air for 35 hours straight.

However, it isn't him that's in trouble. One part of the broadcast featured a man called Jean-Michel Maire, who is a panellist on the show, according to Buzzfeed, and took part in a segment which was a sort of odd parody of Kim Kardashian's robbery.

The initial idea for the bit is in relatively poor taste, too. I'm not a fan of Kim K but she was tied up and robbed, which must have been pretty scary and it happened in France, so you'd think they'd have a bit more class.

Anyway, the woman, Soraya, was tied up and placed in a bathtub and Marie had to free her by finding the correct key from a massive bunch, which he eventually manages to do.

Once outside the host, Hanouna says that Marie, the 'rescuer' deserved a kiss. Soraya disagreed but Marie said that she actually said yes. Because he is a creep.

Once again Soraya says she doesn't want to give this oddball, who looks like he needs to lay off the Botox, a kiss but he carries on and pushes it until she eventually agrees to a 'little peck on the cheek'. Marie instead decides to kiss her on her boobs. What. The. Fuck.

French law dictates that sexual assault is any sexual act that involves threat, coercion, violence or, as in this case, surprise.

This led to a huge outpouring of rage on social media, with viewers calling Marie everything from an asshole to disgusting.

The Superior Council of Audiovisual (CSA), who regulate French broadcasting, tweeted on Friday that they have so far had over 250 complaints and will be launching an investigation.
