Woman Who Lived Her Final Days With Hollywood Actor Has Died

A touching friendship.

It's a heartwarming story of a young Hollywood actor who took in his neighbour and made her last few days comfortable.

Norma Cook and Chris Salvatore moved into the apartment block in Los Angeles and Norma waved at him whenever she saw him. So eventually he thought that he should go over there and introduce himself.

31-year old Chris told the Today show: "She offered me a glass of Champagne - it's her favourite drink - and we just sat down and talked. We connected right away. Back when she was a young adult, she had a lot of friends who were gay, and I'm also gay, so I think it made her feel safe at home and at peace to sort of have that bond again."

When he first met her, he was going through a rough break up and she comforted him.
She had been going through a tough time herself. She had been diagnosed with leukaemia a decade ago, had to give up her car and was struggling to make ends meet. She had divorced in her early 40s and didn't have any children, or any family in the state.

But Chris and Norma quickly became best friends. They bonded over champagne and dinner parties - Chris took her on her errands, to the doctor's, the pharmacy and even took her to vote.

But her health got worse and she needed 24-hour care, which costs a lot of money. So Chris raised £30,000 and invited her to move in with him.

But it's sadly come to an end. Norma has passed away at the age of 89. RIP Norma. We'll raise a jar to you tonight.

Chris wrote on his Facebook page; "Norma is now resting peacefully in the eternal and while she may no longer physically be with us, her spirit will continue to fill the hearts of so many people.''This year Norma has helped the world see the true meaning of Valentine's Day. To love another is not about living struggle free or never experiencing hurt or loss, but to fully and deeply open our hearts to one another without fear."
