A Navy submarine commander from the US has been demoted from his position after he admitted to paying for ten female prostitutes.

Captain Travis Zettel was relieved of duty last Summer following a loss of confidence after a sailor's tip came in to the Department of Defense Inspector General's hotline.

An investigation by the U.S. Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) was launched when the sailor was apparently told by Zettel that he had 'requested/ordered ten girls to arrive at the hotel,' according to documentation from a Freedom of Information Act request obtained by the Kitsap Sun.

The tipster then later saw the commander with around ten 'provocatively dressed females outside the front door of the hotel'. Nothing like keeping something under wraps, is there?

Fox News reported that another sailor was also alleged to have enjoyed the company of women, was seen with three 'local females holding onto his arm as he was wandering around' and greeting his fellow sailors.

The incident occurred on March 1 while the team were ported in Subic Bay in the Philippines.

A criminal probe began and Zettel was confronted by NCIS agents with the allegations where he 'admitted culpability in the payment of female accompaniment'.

The other sailor, whose name was redacted in the documents, was also interviewed but after saying he 'did not participate in prostitution' he was not 'pursued for disciplinary action'.

Zettel was reprimanded back in August and was reassigned to the staff of Naval Base Kitsap-Bangor-based Submarine Squadron 19, Navy officials said.

The MailOnline reported that Zettel became the commander of submarine USS Bremerton in August 2016. At the time, he said: "Becoming the 15th commanding officer of the now 35-year-old 'American classic' is a proud moment for me and my family".

Back in November 2017, the US Navy apologised after a pilot drew a penis in the sky. Talk about taking a page out of every schoolboy's book and one upping it.

The pilot was based at Whidbey Island naval station and despite it being inarguably good banter, his superiors at the base weren't too happy with him for the drawing.

In a statement, they said: "We find this absolutely unacceptable, of zero training value and we are holding the crew accountable."
