Identity Of Suspected Manchester Suicide Bomber Has Been Revealed

US police have announced the identity of the man responsible for the sickening attack at the Ariana Grande concert in Manchester last night, it's been reported.

According to the Associated Press, US officials have announced British authorities identified the suspected Manchester suicide bomber as Salman Abedi. He is believed to be a British man of Libyan origin.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed that 22 people have been killed in what they are treating as a suicide bombing at the Manchester Arena on Monday night. Around 60 more have been injured.

Police chief Ian Hopkins has also said that a lone attacker died when detonating an improvised explosive device in the attack.

A 23-year-old man from Chorlton, South Manchester, was arrested in connection with the terrorist attack, earlier today.

Armed officers were also seen in Fallowfield, where they carried out a 'controlled explosion' according to local residents.

Peter Gallagher, 44, was in a house nearby when he heard the bang. He told LADbible: "I was in my front room watching the television when I heard what sounded like a car crash.

"Everyone came out on to the street and saw the police arriving. I didn't see it happen but people are saying a door has been blown off."

A spokesman from Greater Manchester Police said: "With regards to the ongoing investigation into last night's horrific attack at the Manchester arena, we can confirm we have arrested a 23-year-old man in South Manchester."

Prime Minister Theresa May said: "It is now beyond doubt that the people of Manchester and of this country have fallen victim to a callous terrorist attack, an attack that targeted some of the youngest people in our society with cold calculation."

Manchester refused to break after last night's attack. Off-duty medics showed up to help out, taxi drivers worked for free and hundreds of residents offered up beds, sofas and cups of tea for those affected.
