One unlucky fan got a pretty unwanted souvenir on the first morning of the Ryder Cup today when a wayward drive from Team USA's Brooks Koepka smashed her square in the face.
The Ryder Cup is one of the world's biggest sporting events and will see thousands of fans flock to Le Golf National on the outskirts of Paris over the course of the weekend.
However, because of the thousands crowding around the course to watch some of the world's best golfers square off, the likelihood is that some people are going to get hurt.
That's exactly what happened on Friday morning at the par four sixth hole.
US Open and PGA Championship winner Koepka was lining up a huge drive but didn't catch it quite as he might have liked. Bad news for both the golfer and anyone in the line of fire.
Sadly, this time it clouted a woman. We don't know the exact age or the name of the woman, but it looked like it really hurt. She appeared to be concussed and was spotted with a lot of bandaging around her head in the immediate aftermath.
Obviously, Koepka was mortified and ran straight over there to check that she was OK. As a professional golfer it's probably both distressing and embarrassing to hit someone in that fashion.
It looked as if the incident shook him as well. I mean, battering the ball into the head of a fan accidentally will do that to anyone, no doubt.
Immediately after that, he also skewed his tee shot on the seventh off to the left. That effort only just avoided another bank of spectators.
The ball looked as if it hit the woman just above the eye, and commentator Rich Beem seemed to confirm that on the TV when he said that she 'suffered a nasty injury'.
There hasn't been an update on her condition so far.
Koepka has had a stellar year in 2018, winning two majors. In one of those tournaments he retained his US Open and became the first person to win two in a row since the great Tiger Woods in 2000.
At the time of the incident, Koepka was playing in the opening fourballs with partner Tony Finau against Europe's Justin Rose and Jon Rahm.
The Ryder Cup is a bi-annual tournament between the best golfers from the United States of America and Europe.
