Woman Smiles After Being Arrested For Sexual Contact With A Student

You're supposed to trust teachers...to explain algebra to you and to help you with your homework. You don't really think of them as real people and you never expect them to do bad things. They're teachers! The people who discipline students.

However, a teacher in Texas has been arrested for indecent conduct with one of her pupils.

Twenty-seven-year-old Sarah Fowlkes was charged with having an improper relationship with one of her students, just hours after celebrating her birthday at dinner with her husband.

The biology teacher was arrested for "sexual content with the intent to arouse or gratify the sexual desire" with a 17-year-old boy.

Even weirder is the broad grin in her mugshot. She seems to be enjoying the attention, and apparently took her cardigan off for the photo. Does she not realise that it's a serious offence to take advantage of a child?

Fowlkes has been working at the school since September last year and has been married for the last four years. She allegedly had physical contact with the student and exchanged text messages.

The police were given a tip off from the school and started investigating. They said: "Their contact was of a sexual nature."

She's been suspended.

The superintendent of the school, Susan Bohn, said: "Lockhart parents entrust their children to us every day, and it is something we do not take lightly.

"Student safety is the district's most important priority. As soon as we learned of the report, we acted swiftly to involve law enforcement and CPS to conduct a thorough investigation.

"The district does not and will not tolerate any improper communication or contact between a teacher and child."

And, sadly, it's not an isolated incident. A married teacher in a place called Weeping Water, Nebraska has resigned over claims that she was organising a "sex tryst" with a student.

Emily Lofing, 27, arranged to meet with a 16-year-old boy to have sex with him. And the school has charged her with "debauching a minor"; the biggest thing they could charge her for as the kid was old enough to consent.

The English teacher was put on leave and promptly quit.
