The reality of war has never been more poignant after this video emerged of a girl happily singing before a bomb exploded outside her home in Syria. The video depicting the innocence of childhood is destroyed by the reality of daily terror for these people.

Half a minute into the video there is a large bang and the girl is moved to a safer place by adults. It appears everyone in the video is ok but it is unknown whether everyone else was safe nearer the centre of the bomb blast.

This comes just a week after the evocative image of five-year-old Omran Daqneesh highlighted the impact war has on the children of Syria after he was pictured bloody in Aleppo. His bother, Ali, died in the bomb blast.

Syria continues to fight the war against Daesh, also known as IS, ISIS, and Islamic State, while the country's leader, Bashar al-Assad, has also been reported to use chemical weapons to suppress citizens in the past.

I have lived in the Middle East and have Syrian friends, many of whom have family in the war-torn country and the conflict feels a bit more 'real' when you get to hear all the awful stories coming from the country first hand. For many of them, the daily fear they live in is unfathomable to most of us.

The humanitarian crisis remains at a critical level.
