Aldi's £4.99 'Big Daddy' Steak Is Hitting Shops Again For One Day Only

Aldi's £4.99 'Big Daddy' Steak Is Hitting Shops Again For One Day Only

The giant steak flew off the shelves when it last dropped but this time Aldi has doubled its stock.

What better way to get rid of those January blues than by chowing down on your bodyweight (which, if you're anything like me after the festive period, is fucking loads) in steak?

The only drawback is the price, but the good people at Aldi have recognised that none of us are exactly Bill Gates in the wallet department at this time of year and reintroduced one of the finest bargains to ever have graved the chain's fridges: The Big Daddy steak.

This 545g (16oz) monster slab of meat is extra thick and guaranteed to leave you groaning on the sofa clutching your stomach for a good chunk of time after you've finished it. Which is exactly the way it should be.

However, the Big Daddy's most appealing feature is its super-low price, coming in at just £4.99 for all that tasty beef.

But there's one catch - the mammoth steak will only be available for one day and if the last time it hit stores was anything to go by, you'll need to be quick as a flash to grab some of the action for yourself.

Shoppers will need to get themselves down to their local branch of Aldi on Thursday 18 January to get their hands on the meat, but are warned they will only be available 'while stocks last'.

Aldi's Tony Baines said: "This premium British rump steak is an example of Aldi's commitment to offering quality, locally-sourced products at amazing low prices, once again allowing customers to make substantial savings on luxury products without compromise."

An Aldi spokeswoman added: "The rump is made up of several different muscles from the rear. It's a lean steak with a great mix of texture and rich flavours.

"It has the benefits of a fillet but with more flavour. It's best thick-cut and cooked over a very high heat, with a generous resting time up to 10 minutes."

Aldi's Big Daddy steak is 100g heavier than its closest rival - Tesco's 350g Finest rump - and is also 42 percent cheaper per kg.

The German budget supermarket chain last released the bargain steak at the beginning of summer 2017 and it flew off the shelves almost immediately - something that has led Aldi to increase its stock by double this time around.

Right, I'm off to plan how I get down to Aldi sharpish first thing next Thursday.
