​Band Plays Titanic Theme Song While Shopping Mall Floods

A band in Mexico managed to keep shoppers at a flooding mall entertained - by hilariously busting out a rendition of Celine Dion's 'My Heart Will Go On', which you'll remember as the big song from James Cameron's 1997 epic disaster flick Titanic.

According to Mexico News Daily, the scenes took place at Plaza Patria mall in Zapopan, Jalisco, at the weekend.

The Guadalajara area had been battered by 'torrential rains and hail' on Saturday, which had felled trees and flooded roads - and, it seems, invaded shopping centres.

The news site reports that the mall has been affected by torrential downpours in the past too, and that one storm at the beginning of last year's rainy season saw at least 20 businesses affected by damage.

When the rain water from the region's recent wet spell began to tumble down into the mall, the musicians managed to lighten the mood as amused shoppers watched on from the mezzanine level above, seemingly with little concern.

Of all the songs they could have chosen, they expertly went for 'My Heart Will Go On' by Celine Dion, which was featured in a film that's all about a famous sinking ship.

In one scene during the movie, the on-board orchestra decide to continue playing as the huge boat gradually sinks into the water, concluding their set with 'Nearer, My God, to Thee' as fellow passengers run around screaming around them.

As the waters begin to surge onto the boat in front of them, one musician says to his comrades: "Gentlemen, it has been a privilege playing with you tonight."

As you can imagine, the footage of the band in Mexico paying homage to the classic 90s film soon went viral (via Mexicans of Late Capitalism and Cagua Iulco), racking up more than 360,000 likes and nearly 140,000 retweets.

"Lmao I died," one Twitter user commented.

"This is a work of art," another added.

Many others pointed out the person who rocks up with a bucket and desperately tries to contain the massive leak - obviously to no avail.

"The lady with the bucket," one said, adding the crying with laughter emoji.

"I want to be as optimistic as this woman," someone else said.

A third quipped: "The bucket is just how I deal with my life."
