Always one to keep up with the times, Domino's has now launched a vegan pizza, meaning those on a plant-based or dairy-free diet no longer need to miss out.

The company started slinging out the new vegan version on the sly, as it discreetly appeared as an option in some UK branches. But it wasn't long before the rumours began circulating on social media, with many people begging Domino's to confirm whether or not what they'd heard was true.

One person tweeted: "Hello!!! Can every1 do me a favour and see if their local @Dominos_UK is offering a vegan pizza *apparently* they're trialing one but it's only in certain stores and they've been very lowkey about it but I can't find it on any of the locations I've tried."

Another tagged Domino's, directly asking: "I have been hearing whispers that you're trialling vegan bases and cheese in selected stores in the UK - is this true I miss delivered pizza."

The pizza giant then confirmed the good news, explaining that the vegan pizzas are being trialled in a number of stores across the UK in September - though fingers crossed it'll be getting rolled out elsewhere if the feedback is positive.

In a statement to LADbible, a Domino's spokesperson commented: "We want as many people as possible to enjoy the great taste of Domino's and the appetite for us to offer a vegan pizza has continued to grow. We're delighted to say we've developed the Vegan Supreme in response to this, which we think will hit the spot.

"The 'vegendary' pizza is in trial across a few stores in September to help us get as much feedback on the product as possible."

The online product description states that the pizza has a vegan base and is topped with tomato sauce, a 'vegan cheese alternative', mushrooms, sweetcorn, red onion, green and red peppers and tomatoes.

There was a little confusion when 'egg' was listed as one of the allergens for the pizza - something that's obviously not vegan - but this now appears to have been removed.

Domino's isn't the only big name to have jumped on the band wagon, either - Magnum recently announced the release of two new vegan ice creams - a classic version that sees 'a velvety vegan ice cream dipped in chocolate couverture', and an almond one also has 'crunchy almond pieces'.

There you go - pizza for dinner and a Magnum for afters. Sorted!
