A young Russian woman has been arrested on suspicion of the sickly act of torturing and killing cats and dogs.

21-year-old Alina Orlova, of the Russian city Khabarovsk, was arrested in Vladivostok, where she was waiting for a flight to St Petersburg.

Orlova and her friend Alena Savchenko, 19, allegedly took photos and videos of them torturing animals and then uploaded them to social media for 'bloodlust'.

The 21-year-old claims that the pictures are fake and she's the subject to a framing.

"I would like to speak in my defence. I do not know who has put this stuff to the Internet - it is not the first time somebody wants to frame me. But I did not kill anyone and do not intend to kill."

Police were made aware of the pairs' graphic pictures after animal lovers were rightly infuriated by them. In one of the images, a dog is seen hanging from a wall with an air rifle pointed at it, and in another a cat is seen with its organs out of its body after being cut open. The video is very distressing.

Residents in Khabarovsk started a petition, calling for the authorities to do something about the alleged animals torturers.
