If you're reading this you're here for one of a few reasons. Either you are aware that life isn't being too kind to your hairline and you have less and less hair by the day, you're uncomfortable with your baldness, or your friend is losing his hair and you want to show him this to ridicule him.
Whatever reason you're here for, it's important that you know that bald lives matter. Whether it's a receding hairline that leaves you with that odd island of hair at the front, or a patch that seems to start at the back of the head, studies have shown that balding people have social dominance.
Researchers from Barry University in Florida previously studied baldness in men, measuring traits such as physical attractiveness, aggressiveness, appeasement, and social maturity.
It was found that those blessed with a fuller head of hair had lower ratings of all of these things, whereas those with receding hairlines had higher, but fully bald men had the highest.
"All of these rating were consistent with the idea that baldness evolved to signal a form of non-threatening social dominance," leader of the study Dr Frank Muscarella told MailOnline. "It could be speculated that although the characteristic of baldness decreases a man's perceived physical attractiveness, it increases his perceived social dominance."
Despite all of these apparent findings, having little to no hair is usually viewed as an undesirable trait. However, as folks like The Rock or Jason Statham will tell you, it's something to embrace. And if you say different, the pair of them would probably take your head off.
For those worried that losing their hair will ruin any chances they have with women, Muscarella brings good news: there is no correlation between the how bald a man is and the number of sexual partners he has in his life.
In short, the loss of hair has a relationship with social dominance, as well as intelligence and honesty, thus making them more approachable.
So, if you are waking up, looking in the mirror and trying to find ways to disguise your exposed forehead, don't bother. Roll with it.
