Dog Abandoned By Heartless Owners Ready To Be Moved To New Home

How could you not want her?!

It's hard to imagine there are people out there who would abandon a dog. A four-legged canine pal will give you more love and affection than any human ever could. Fact.

Alas, those people do exist, but luckily there are real dog-lovers who take in our less fortunate, furry friends.

Zuzu, a German shepherd/Belgian malinois mix, is a dog whose heartbreaking story has already upset just about everyone after her old owners came by to the shelter where she was being kept, but were there to find a new pet.

A video of her being reunited with her former owners went viral, as they searched for a new companion, despite showing affection towards Zuzu.

The two-year-old is now moving out of the overcrowded Los Angeles County shelter in Downey to another one - the private Pet Adoption Fund in Canoga Park, California.

Desi Lara, who works at the Downey shelter, posted the video of Zuzu, which now has over 125,000 views and couldn't quite believe what she'd seen.

"I didn't know they were her people," Lara wrote on Facebook . "I just saw she was so excited. She looked like the happiest dog.

"Once I found out they weren't taking her, my heart broke. They acted like they really liked her but they didn't want to take her.

"She wasn't a happy dog anymore. Their solution for her unhappiness was just leaving her here. And go get another dog."

What is hardest to work out is that Zuzu was reportedly well-cared for and obedient. The former owners even told the people at the shelter the dog's real name - Princess.

"It seems she was just too much trouble for them and they wanted a new pet," Janay Chapin, a trainer at the shelter, told the Daily Mail. "We could tell that the second they approached the yard that they knew exactly who she was and she knew who they were.

"She suddenly became a totally different dog the moment she saw them."

The new shelter Zuzu is going to is one that does not euthanise abandoned dogs. They will keep her until a suitable, permanent home is found for her. Thankfully, people are already lining up to adopt her, so it hopefully won't be long until she has a permanent house.
